Stephen Dey

Stephen Dey’s passion for photography began as a teenager when he took photography classes and eventually worked as a staff photographer at Charlotte Catholic High School. After high school graduation, he continued to study the technical and artistic aspects of photography at Randolph Community College, in Asheboro, NC, where at the same time, he also obtained a hands-on education working with other talented professional photographers throughout North Carolina.

After Stephen graduated from college, he continued to work for several different photography studios. In April of 1989, pursuing the dream of owning his own studio, Stephen started Charlotte Image Photography, Inc, initially working out of his home. In 1991, he moved Charlotte Image Photography, Inc. to its current location on Park Road where he eventually outgrew his space and expanded into the suite next door. Stephen's work illustrates his love for the art form of photography and reflects his versatile talent.

He is as adept at capturing the essence of an industrial worker in a plant, as he is a child interacting with his parents or a bride and groom sharing their first dance. His goal, whether the photography is for a corporate brochure or for a family heirloom, is to evoke emotion by telling a story through imagery.

Stephen continues to broaden his education, satisfy his yearning to learn everything he can, and expand his knowledge of the ever-changing art of photography. He received his certification in 2001 through the Professional Photographers of America and is currently working toward his Masters of Photography in 2002 through the same association.
