Chris Edwards

Chris Edwards has been a professional photographer for 15 years. “My brother gave me a camera for Christmas when I was 10,” Chris says, “and that set it all in motion.”

He enjoys shooting people on location, in their element. This is one of the reasons he has been the Charlotte Magazine staff photographer for the past seven years. Chris shoots practically all the photographic content for the magazine often making even the most mundane surroundings interesting. “I walk into many situations that are similar—fluorescent lights, low ceilings and beige walls if I’m shooting in an office, for example,” he says. “I appreciate the challenge of creating something extraordinary from the ordinary.”

Chris’s approach is non-traditional; his portraiture is conceptual in nature. He takes the ideas and personalities of his subjects and turns those into external environments that add a new perspective to the traditional portrait.
